Dr. Tapan Kumar Saikia has an extensive experience of over 35 years in the field of Oncology. He is an alumnus of Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh where he completed his MBBS and MD (medicine) education (1970-80). He was trained in the field of Medical Oncology at the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai (TMH) in 1981-1984 and later worked as a faculty (2004 - mid 2012). Thereafter he worked at Prince Aly Khan (2004-2022) hospital and Jaslok hospital (2005 - 2012).
Dr. Saikia, is involved in clinical care, education (DNB in medical oncology), and research (investigator initiated and pharma sponsored - phase I-IV) in hematological malignancies and solid tumours. Additionally, he is associated with a number of NGOs that assist patients afflicted with various cancers. Currently, he also attends (two days every month) State Cancer Institute (SCI), Gauhati Medical College, Assam as a pro bono visiting professor and senior consultant.
