After graduating in medicine from St.Petersburg University, Russia in 1991, Dr. Basu received postgraduate training in Radiation in Clinical Oncology from Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai from September, 1994 till March, 1999. He joined Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune as Consultant in Radiation Oncology and was a key member of the committee for conceptualization and establishment of the state of the art cancer centre in 2005 having the first IGRT facility in India. He received advanced training in Image Guided Radiation Therapy(IGRT) and Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy(IMRT) techniques from Christiana Care Hospitals, Delaware, USA and Henry Ford Cancer Center, Detroit, USA. He is also vastly experienced in the usage of Stereotactic techniques of radiation planning and delivery, intracranial(SRS/SRT) as well as extracranial(SBRT/SABR). His areas of interest are women’s cancers, Prostate cancer, CNS tumours, all other solid tumours and minimizing radiation induced acute and late toxicities using newer techniques of radiation planning and delivery. He has chaired scientific sessions and delivered oral presentations in various national and international conferences and seminars. After an extensive work experience as Head of Radiation Oncology for more than two decades at RHC, Pune, he has joined KDAH as Senior Consultant in Radiation Oncology. He is a DNB accredited teacher and examiner for Radiation Oncology.
