Dr. Shabber Zaveri has contributed significantly to the field of oncology. He was instrumental in establishing the Department of Surgical Oncology at Manipal Hospital Old Airport Road, Bangalore in 2002. Dr. Shabber introduced the Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy for Breast Cancer in 2004 and pioneered the Radioisotope Occult Lesion Localization (ROLL) for Breast Cancer treatment in 2005. Notably, he was among the first medical professionals in India to initiate Minimally Invasive Radio Guided Para Thyroid surgeries (MIRP). He also launched the HIPEC Program in 2013 at Manipal Hospital Bengaluru.
Dr. Shabber Zaveri completed his MBBS from Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, MS in General Surgery from B J Medical College Ahmedabad, and M.Ch in Surgical Oncology from The Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute. Notably, he has secured fellowships in Robotic Surgery at Hackensack Medical Center, New Jersey; Thoracic Surgery from Fachkrankenhaus, Dresden, Germany; Breast Surgical Oncology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, New York; Cytoreductive Surgery and HIPEC from the European Institute of Surgery, Hamburg, Germany and PIPAC from St. Elizebeth Hospital, Germany.
In addition to his fellowships, Dr. Shabber Zaveri maintains active memberships in several esteemed medical associations. These include the Association of Surgeons of India, IASO Indian Association of Oncology, European Society of Surgical Oncology, European Society of Medical Oncology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology, among many others.
