Dr. Suresh H Advani

Dr. Advani’s journey to becoming an Oncologist is itself an inspiration. Dr. Advani rose to become Chief of Medical Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, and he also set up the Oncology Department at Jaslok Hospital, where he is currently the Chief Medical and Pediatric Oncologist. Let's start with his birth history. He was born in Karachi and had to leave there when he was only 15 days old due to partition. They came to Deolali, Nagashik, Nashik first, and then shifted to Mumbai after a few years.

Dr. Advani, Indias best Oncologist who won Padma Bhushan, was facing difficulties to even enter Medical College as they didn't want a crippled person. But did he back down? No, no he told hospital authorities, ministers, ministers and others to look into the matter.

During his student life, he won various distinctions and awards.

Being a handicapped person was never his weakness, but it made him more dedicated and committed to fighting against Cancer and being one of the best Oncologists in the world. Dr. Advanis achievements are a core inspiration to many doctors, patients, and people who know him and his story.

Dr. Advanis ambition to become a doctor was realized when he was hospitalized with polio. Back in 1950, there were hardly any drugs to treat polio, but the interaction there with his treating doctor left an impression on him to become a doctor like them.

Dr. Advani is well known as the first Oncologist to do a Bone Marrow Transplant in India. He was also part of clinical trials done on 1200 patients suffering from lymphoblastic Leukemia. The trial helped to increase the success rate from 20 to 70%.

Dr. Adavnis belief is to keep a person's hope alive along with treatment, which is the mantra for his success.
